How To Avoid Becoming Victim Of The "Pricing Game"!

Don't be a victim of un-ethical cleaners!

We have all seen the coupons in the mail. $8.95 a room, no hidden charges, etc. I used to work for companies like this. They are more commonly called "Bait and Switch" companies. The reason why is because they advertise one price "basic clean" but do not have the intention of leaving your home having done a quality cleaning for that price.

Usually they can be identified by showing up to your home in a sports car or pick up truck with some badly abused piece of portable equipment in the back seat. In fact I guarantee the techs photo on the coupon is a "stock" photo from the ad company and not actual employees of the carpet company. These companies don't care about uniforms, their techs normally wear a t shirt and jeans.

When they come to your home they use tactics like "your carpet is heavily soiled and a basic cleaning will not get your carpet clean". They say your traffic areas need to be "deep scrubbed' then proceed to high pressure sell their good cleaning job for more than four to five times what the coupon price is.

Companies like this know that you have taken time off of work, and moved your furniture. They know that most people will cave under this pressure. Even if the customer only gets the "basic" the technicians are paid by commission usually 20 to 30 percent which means their tech only gets $2 to $3 a room for their time. How hard would you work for $3.00?

This method of selling often leads to buyer remorse and very little repeat business. Companies like this will work a geographic area until they no longer can get work then they either change their name or move some place else and start over again.

I have known owners that would fill up containers in the shop with water and send their technicians out to sell it as carpet protector (if you've ever bought carpet protector and noticed it didn't really work that's probably why).

Also I've seen technicians fill up buckets of water in a customers bathtub and use their hair shampoo as carpet cleaning detergent. Other times they'll use laundry soap or anything cheap they can find.

Using harsh, cheap, and even dangerous cleaning agents (leaving toxic amounts of chemical residue in your home) can do permanent damage to your carpet. Some of these residues are not even safe for your pets much less your children.

The chemicals that these un-educated cleaners use are so harsh that they strip the life from the carpet fibers adding years to your carpets appearance. Plus these cleaners don't even pull out all the embedded soil debris that ends up at the lower part of your fibers which will cause your carpet to wear faster. This means you're going to need to replace your carpets sooner (big bucks!)...and that your home won't be as healthy.

These type of cleaners are untrained, unethical, and downright unscrupulous cleaners. So not only will you pay more in the long run by going with "cheap cleaners" ... you won't be enjoying all the benefits of a great looking carpet, and a safe HEALTHY home. I'm sure this is not the experience you would like to have.
